I was late for office when my phone rang. I answered, voice from other end burst out, ''Rahul! yaar mere job ka kya hua. You said you talked with your manager. kuch nikala Kya?''. In a hurry I said, ''Aaj phir puchunga bhai. Tension na lo, ho jayega''. This guy was my friend's colleague and called me everyday. He was really desperate for a job. I never cared much.
As I locked the door on my way out, my neighbor, a kind old lady came to me with a request, ''Rahul beta tonight my niece is coming home would you please bring some sweets on your way back''. She was a nice lady and I agreed. After office I took sweets and handed them to the old lady. She in turn invited me for dinner which I declined at first but later accepted.
''Welcome Rahul'' the old lady said, ''I want you to meet my niece Mehek''. The moment my eyes fell on Mehek, I was spell bound. She was pretty. We both introduced ourselves. We talked a lot and soon dinner was over. I was impressed. While leaving, the old lady said, ''Beta, Mehek ko idar hi job mil gaya toh bhaut acha hoga, woh mere sath rahegi. Tum uske liya kahi pe job try karo''. I promised I would find a job. I was excited that Mehek would be my neighbour.
Next evening I met Mehek and the old lady at our apartment gates, I smiled at Mehek and said, ''Get ready for job, I have scheduled your interview tomorrow at my company. Don't worry you will be selected, that's a promise.'' She was indeed selected.
Next week Mehek invited me over for dinner she hosted for her new job. I thought whether I should buy her a gift or was it too soon for gift. I ended up without gift. As I entered the house, my eyes met his eyes. He was the same guy how would call me and ask for job. I was shocked and shaken. I dint know what to say. My heart shattered when Mehek smiled and pointed towards him and said,''That's my special friend. We met through internet''
I closed my eyes, was it a bad dream or my karma.
